Is
Energy Management Critical to your Organization?
How much does it really cost to
make a product? When is the best time of
day to run equipment? How do you allocate
energy costs to operational events, departments
and products? How do you report energy
costs back to ERP as part of the production
record?
Whether your organization is looking to be
green, reduce operating costs or both, improved
energy management is now critical in most
corporate goals. To reach these goals,
organizations need to be able to record
consumption and demand at main and sub meters
for a wide range of energy types (including
power, water, chilled water, gas, air, steam,
etc.). This information then needs to be
associated to production output to provide the
key performance indicators used in many
sustainability programs.
Systems available today grew up from software
developed to interface to electric meters.
They really cannot easily account for other
critical components such as steam or air or
water, etc. and they have little or no awareness
of energy consumption in the context of
manufacturing output. Additionally,
without networked meters, these limited systems
provide no value at all.
Wonderware's new Corporate Energy Management
Solution (CEM) addresses all of these issues.
Built on our open System Platform Technology,
CEM can connect to any type of meter (electric,
gas, steam, water, etc.) and collect energy
consumption/demand information in the context of
your manufacturing operation and operating
environment. Users can allocate cost to
operational events, departments and products and
begin to work to reduce energy consumption and
avoid peak energy demands. Additionally,
if no networked meters are present, users can
leverage our mobile front-end to manually enter
needed data right at the source.

Wonderware's CE-Based HMI
The Powered By Wonderware
program allows users to leverage InTouch Based
Technology on light, inexpensive CE-based
platforms from a variety of major vendors.
For too long, the realm of the low-end HMI
panel has been dominated by bundled, proprietary
hardware/software offerings that offered minimal
capability within closed systems that were
unable to be tied into the broader plant
infrastructure. The shortcomings were
ignored because these panels were pushbutton
replacements or basic interface terminals and so
we sacrificed capability for cost.
In today's environment, we are required to do
more with less. With overextended
engineering staff, managing multiple types of
systems and development environments for
different areas of the plant has a negative
impact. The inability to share information
between all plant systems no matter how basic
has a negative impact. We still need to be
conscious of cost but we also need to reduce
development and maintenance costs and eliminate
closed islands of automation.
Wonderware addresses all of these issues with
our Powered By Wonderware Program.
Leveraging our CE Based platform built on
InTouch Technology, users can now purchase
inexpensive terminals running on the CE Hardware
Platform of their choice and gain all of the
benefits of leveraging the world's most popular HMI
- InTouch.
Powered By Wonderware
Wonderware InTouch HMI graphic visualization
software is now widely available on the Windows
CE device of your choice. Industry leading
hardware manufacturers have partnered with
Wonderware to offer a productive and cost saving
combination of our premium industry HMI with the
CE device that best fits your needs. The
“Powered by Wonderware” logo lets you know the
unit is fully tested, certified, and ready to go
out of the box with pre-installed InTouch
Compact Edition software. To enable the
pre-installed HMI software, choose from several
license sizes offered separately and in
multi-packs for extended value.
What are the Key Benefits?
- The Power of InTouch-Based Technology at a
cost point comparable to other closed,
proprietary systems. Get much more for
less.
-
Leverage a single development environment across
all systems in your plant - The Wonderware
Development Studio.
- Take existing InTouch
Applications and make them usable on a CE
Platform for a more common look and feel
everywhere.
- The ability to share information
between the InTouch CE Platform and other
Higher-end Wonderware offerings like the
Wonderware System Platform - eliminate islands
of automation.
- The ability to leverage your
choice in hardware with the best CE based HMI
product on the market - all backed by
Wonderware. Just look for the Powered By
Wonderware Logo.
Other New Hardware News
Wonderware's new version of our OIC Panel PC
product is now a direct "drop-in" replacement

Bullet-Proof Servers
Fault Tolerance/Redundancy on a
platform that is as simple to manage as a Dell
Server. If banking systems, communication
systems, power systems and other critical
infrastructure systems around the world can use
Stratus, so can you.
Today's plant systems are often mission
critical applications that drive our
manufacturing operations. As such, it is vital
that the hardware platforms that are running
those applications and databases not fail.
Often, however, employing redundancy can involve
expensive and complicated server clusters,
duplication of software licenses or complicated
software applications to manage redundant
applications. Those days are now a thing of the
past with Stratus Fault Tolerant Servers.
Stratus Technologies has been in business
providing the highest levels of application
availability in the industry for the past 30
years. Stratus ftServers run standard Windows
operating systems, RedHat Linux and VMware
vSphere operating systems and provide instant
failure protection through a duplicated hardware platform
that looks and feels just like a standard Dell
Server. With over 15,000 servers throughout the
world, protecting some of the most mission
critical applications, Stratus Servers are a
proven technology platform that can be leveraged
to provide complete application redundancy.
If you can turn on a PC, and load a software
application, you can create a Status-based
fault-tolerant hardware platform to enable
redundancy for your mission critical
applications. It is really that easy and because
Stratus Servers don't need any special software
to work, setting up a Stratus Server is as easy
as setting up a Dell Server. Load your operating
system (if it is not already loaded), load your
application and run. Leverage Stratus Servers
for a plant historian, an MES Server, redundant
windows terminal servers, redundant HMI
applications, etc. and instantly provide a
redundant hardware platform to host your
critical software applications.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Set up is as easy as setting up a standard
Dell Server. From the user perspective,
there is no difference.
- Servers are open
systems running standard Windows, Linux and
VMware. Any application which runs on any of
these operating environments will run without
change on Stratus and become instantly
continuously available.
- There is no
specialized training to set up a system. A
Stratus ftServer appears to the operating system
to be just another stand alone server. Load your
software and go.
Achieve 99.999% application availability.
Engineered to prevent failure, Stratus systems
are installed in hundreds of manufacturing
facilities across the globe, virtually
eliminating software downtime. - No complex
setup or failover testing, no provisioning
hardware, or mirroring disk drives. No
engineering effort, no systems integration.
-
If a component fails, the server itself can
"call" Stratus and a replacement part will be on
your desk the next day. It is as simple as
that.
If you want to learn more about the easy way to
protect your critical plant data assets, contact
Wonderware North at 877-900-4996 or e-mail us at
