Alarms & Events via Text or E-mail
Any System Platform alarms or
events can be easily accessible via a text
message or e-mail - leveraging Wonderware Remote
Response Objects.
Expanding the reach of System Platform alarms
and events to your e-mail or mobile phone is
easy with Remote Response Objects for System
Platform. Remote Response Objects are fully
functional ArchestrA Objects that integrate with
the System Platform and can be customized by the
user to deliver alarm notification via e-mail or
text message to cell phones via SMS (Simple
Messaging System) to remote users. Remote users
can view alarm information, acknowledge alarms,
and enter comments all from a remote device.
Because Remote Response Objects are
pre-developed ArchestrA Objects, they are
extremely easy to incorporate into a System
Platform application and configuration,
customization, deployment, and maintenance are
easily performed within the IDE environment.
Remote Response Objects are particularly
beneficial to Geo-SCADA systems where users are
often in the field away from the office or
plant. Remote Response Objects use the most
common open standards for email exchange and
scheduling.
One of the key features of Remote Response
Objects is Escalation Scheduling which allows up
to 3 groups/levels of escalation for alarm
notification and acknowledgement. In addition,
the escalation groups can be configured to
change by hour of day or day of week as work
shifts and personnel change. The work shift
configuration can be performed using any
standard calendar client such as MS Outlook,
GoogleCalendar, or Mozilla Sunbird. The calendar
client simply needs to support the iCalendar
standard (RFC 2445) for calendar data exchange
which is the most common text file format for
scheduling applications. This standard supports
the full power of recurring meetings based on
the scheduling recurrence rules.
Remote Response Objects are designed to
integrate with the ArchestrA security model for
alarm acknowledgement capability. They include
security features to prevent unauthorized users
from acknowledging alarms. These security
features include: a globally enabled 4 digit
unique PIN number per user entered at time of
alarm acknowledgement; fully integrated with
Galaxy security so that if Galaxy security is
enabled then each user email address and/or
phone address is associated to a corresponding
Galaxy User name. In addition, the entire Ack
capability can be disabled in the case of
applications that only require notification with
no response.
Remote Response Objects can be deployed to any
number of nodes per Galaxy and configured for
any number of Alarms and any number of users.
Remote Response Objects integrate with redundant
Application Engines on redundant AOS nodes so
remote alarm notifications, escalations and
acknowledgments continue unaffected under
failover. Delivery of notifications and receipt
of responses is achieved by connecting to any
email server that supports SMTP (outgoing) or
POP3 (incoming) email messaging standards.
Remote Response Objects are fully integrated
with the Wonderware AlarmAppObjects of the
Galaxy so alarm configuration is closely coupled
with remote notification and response. The
Application Objects are configured to monitor
one or more alarm condition indicators within
the Galaxy. A configured list of users in
Exchange Server will be notified via e-mail or
which can be converted into SMS text message
when an alarm occurs. The alarm message to be
delivered in the notification message can be
customized by the user to contain both static
text and also snapshots of attribute values of
any object in the Galaxy.
What are the Key Features?
- Build as ArchestrA Objects – allowing to
easily extend your existing application
- Email
and SMS (via appropriate gateway) support
-
Operator response (acknowledgement) via email or
SMS
- Low Cost
What are the Key Benefits?
- Built-in scheduler
- PIN-based security
option
- Configurable escalation in case of
non-response
- Operates with redundant
(failover configuration) of System Platform

Record
what your Operator is Seeing
The Longwatch
Console Recorder makes it easy to record one or
more operator console displays, so you can see
exactly which display was active, and what data
were on the display - as if you were watching it
live.
For decades, companies have spent money adding
instrumentation, control, reporting and
management equipment, software and services to
their systems... all in an effort to make sure
errors are avoided and that plant output is
on-time on on-quality.
Yet few, if any, companies have taken the simple
step of making sure that their human interfaces
are delivering necessary information in a timely
and unambiguous fashion so that the operators
make timely and appropriate command actions.
The Longwatch Operator's Console Recorder is a
software module that enables automatic recording
of your HMI or SCADA operator's console display.
With this tool, Longwatch archives exactly what
the operator was seeing, because it records the
video that's being sent to the display itself.
Playing back what the operator was seeing can be
a very valuable method for troubleshooting,
training and process improvement. It can also be
an important tool to help analyze what went
wrong, or what can be done to avoid future
problems.
The Console Recorder software requires no
special hardware. It automatically records your
HMI/SCADA console displays to the Longwatch
Video Engine. When combined with the Video
Historian's message linking capability, you can
see exactly what the operator was seeing when
selected events and alarms occurred.
Key Benefits and Capabilities
- Documentation for regulatory compliance
-
Tool to Improve training
- Tool to Improve
operations
- Reduce liability
- Reduce
operating costs
- Collects video directly from
your graphics card so no camera hardware
required
- Automatic playback of video based on
message mapping from external systems

Eliminate Server Downtime
With a World-Wide uptime of
99.99979% for all installed Servers (calculated
daily), Stratus servers are the most robust
fault tolerant Server platform available on the
market.
Stratus Servers protect the data and computing
investments of most of the critical applications
that run our world. Securities and
Exchange, Manufacturing, Government, Healthcare,
Travel and Transportation, Retail, Financial,
Education, Public Safety, Media, Life Sciences
and more - Stratus Servers are found in almost
every mission critical application you can think
of. Perhaps that is why many of the
largest manufacturers in the world leverage
Stratus servers to protect critical
manufacturing processes and data.
Today's plant systems are often mission
critical applications that drive our
manufacturing operations. As such, it is vital
that the hardware platforms that are running
those applications and databases not fail.
Often, however, employing redundancy can involve
expensive and complicated server clusters,
duplication of software licenses or complicated
software applications to manage redundant
applications. Those days are now a thing of the
past with Stratus Fault Tolerant Servers.
Stratus Technologies has been in business
providing the highest levels of application
availability in the industry for the past 30
years. Stratus ftServers run standard Windows
operating systems, RedHat Linux and VMware
vSphere operating systems and provide instant
failure protection through a duplicated hardware platform
that looks and feels just like a standard Dell
Server. With over 15,000 servers throughout the
world, protecting some of the most mission
critical applications, Stratus Servers are a
proven technology platform that can be leveraged
to provide complete application redundancy.
If you can turn on a PC, and load a software
application, you can create a Status-based
fault-tolerant hardware platform to enable
redundancy for your mission critical
applications. It is really that easy and because
Stratus Servers don't need any special software
to work, setting up a Stratus Server is as easy
as setting up a Dell Server. Load your operating
system (if it is not already loaded), load your
application and run. Leverage Stratus Servers
for a plant historian, an MES Server, redundant
windows terminal servers, redundant HMI
applications, etc. and instantly provide a
redundant hardware platform to host your
critical software applications.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Set up is as easy as setting up a standard
Dell Server. From the user perspective,
there is no difference.
- Servers are open
systems running standard Windows, Linux and
VMware. Any application which runs on any of
these operating environments will run without
change on Stratus and become instantly
continuously available.
- There is no
specialized training to set up a system. A
Stratus ftServer appears to the operating system
to be just another stand alone server. Load your
software and go.
Achieve 99.999% application availability.
Engineered to prevent failure, Stratus systems
are installed in hundreds of manufacturing
facilities across the globe, virtually
eliminating software downtime. - No complex
setup or failover testing, no provisioning
hardware, or mirroring disk drives. No
engineering effort, no systems integration.
-
If a component fails, the server itself can
"call" Stratus and a replacement part will be on
your desk the next day. It is as simple as
that.
If you want to learn more about the easy way to
protect your critical plant data assets, contact
Wonderware North at 877-900-4996 or e-mail us at
sales@wonderwarenorth.com.
